Cake Smash Photo Session - Parents Guide
Your little one's birthday is approaching. It is probably the one and only time your baby will have a free pass to paint everything and everyone in a beautiful big gooey mess! Session has been booked and now you are wondering how to get the best out of the session? Please read the preparation guide!
Session will take approximately 1-2 hours. Sometimes it might take longer - it really depends on baby's mood and cooperation. I want your baby to feel safe, comfortable and happy during the whole session.
1. Please make sure your baby has had a nap before the session or good night sleep (if your session is in the morning).
2. Some kids dig in to the cake straight away, others need some initial encouragement. Be ready to get your hands dirty and dig into that frosting too!
3. Every birthday session includes complementary bath splash session. Please remember to pack the towel!
4. If you want me to order the cake for you - please let me know in advance! However if you decide to bring your own cake:
a) the best sponge for the cake is vanilla or plain. For the best pictures try to avoid any chocolate brown cake- dark smears on baby's face are fun but don't look pretty on the pictures.
b) use butter cream or fresh cream - they are the most smash-able. The royal or fondant icing will be too hard for your little one.
c) remember that dark coloured fruits like blueberry makes a long- term stains.
d) remove the cake from refrigerator 1 hour (if it's fresh cream) or 4/5 hours (if it's buttercream) before the start of the session to allow the frosting to soften in room temperature.
5. If you have purchased the cake smash package in which a family photoshoot is included (exclusive package), there will be a separate mini family photoshoot after the end of the main cake smash session in a plain backdrop of your choice. The outfit can be changed for this part.
6. At first, all parents hope that their little one will dive in and make a mess of the cake. That’s what you are paying for! But that doesn’t always happen and that’s okay. Not every child wants to dive right in and make a mess no matter what tricks we try.
AFTER SESSION...
Up to 3/4 days after session you will receive link to your private online gallery with raw/ non edited photos from your session so you can choose the photos that you want me to edit (amount of photos depends on package you choose).
After choosing your gallery you will have to wait up to 2/3 weeks to receive your digital images. Waiting time for prints and other photo products is longer (up to 45 working days).
