Do you know what is the key to successful Newborn Photo Session? Parents cooperation! On the day of photoshoot, please try to keep your baby awake for about an hour and then feed full before leaving your house. Don't worry! I do expect your baby to fall asleep in the car. If that happens, please bring your baby inside with the car seat to not wake them up. If possible - try not to take them out of the car seat yourself as that might wake them up. The more they are picked up / changed / moved, the more overstimulated they became which result in them being awake for the entire photoshoot!  Let's avoid it!

When dressing your baby, please remember to put on something easy to take off. Ideally a onesie or baby grow. Nothing that goes through the head. It will really help make a smooth transition between the car seat and posing table or a prop.

Also - very important, please bring a pacifier with you (even if you don't use). It can be extremely helpful and sometimes it's not possible to achieve those cute poses without the dummy. If your baby is breastfed please do not be afraid that baby will get in a habit of using the pacifier for the short amount of time. I always try to make baby as comfortable as possible and assure that the session runs smoothly.

If there are siblings! Considering the length of a typical newborn session, I always advise parents that siblings only attend for the family portion of the newborn photo session – typically the first or last 30 minutes. If that is not possible and siblings are very well behaved - they are more than welcome to stay for the whole session.

If family photos are being taken! Please bring matching t-shirts/tops. I always recommend to use black tops when using black background and white tops when using white. Other colours are also welcome, please just make sure everyone matches the same colour scheme.

I know that world changes upside down when the little one arrives, however please - I beg you - don't forget to take care about yourself. Please make sure you have a breakfast and stay hydrated. All of the things above - they are important and helpful for the session to run smoothly but if you are tired, if you are overwhelmed, if you find it difficult - please don't worry about any of it. Your mental health is way more important. As long as you bring your baby to the studio with enough nappy and milk - that's more than enough. The rest we can figure out later. Babies are very sensitive and can sense your stress so easily. If you are stressed = they can feel it = they don't feel safe = they don't sleep, they are fussy, they are upset. Please try to relax and let me make the photoshoot experience fun and enjoyable for you. And remember - you are not often going to have opportunity of 3 hours relaxing time while someone else is taking care of your baby! I am truly looking forward to meeting you and your baby! Please let me know if you have any questions!
